Magento 2 – Keyword search in the backend: Seriously?

Now I'll take my time, to write about something, what I have been with Magento for a long time 2 very annoying:

The entire display functionality of the grids (e.g.. Orders / Products) in the backend at the step of Magento 1 on Magento 2 completely changed. There are certainly a few useful innovations here, such as the standard option to enter columns- and fade out. But what really annoys me is the changed filter function. Why is it no longer possible to enter filters directly in the column headers?? Why do you have to go first “Filter” click, in order to (that alone is time-consuming) to find and set the right filter? The height of pointlessness is however, that one the so-called. “Keyword filter” cannot use it to search for parts of values. In probably all Magento shops, for example, there is a sequential order number (or invoice number etc.) award. That's how you know as a customer service representative, that the first X digits are the same and only the last Y digits matter. When a customer contacts us, we say in many cases “we only need the last few digits”, to find an order.

In Magento 1 you could only enter the last digits in the column for order number and I found the possible one(n) Order(in).

In Magento 2 or. the keyword search is no longer able to do this?! Concrete example: I looked for order TG-A000054 and only gave “54” a – No result found. I then make the effort and give “TG-A000054” a, I'm surprised at the consistency of the search, since she is next to me “TG-A000054” also the order “TS-A000054” indicating….

And what needs to be clearly stated: We shorten the number ranges in our projects (how to do that – Link) already clear. Who can ask of their customers and also of customer service, that all zeros / Positions are taken into account?

To now with part of an order number, a name or similar. to be able to work, you have to open it first “Filter” click, the correct column / Find the correct filter and then enter the desired part there. Make it work then.

But why it doesn't work with the keyword search and why the shop supervisors are expected to take this detour, I can't explain myself.

Since 2009 I have been working intensively with Magento. I started with the creation and operation of B2C stores. This was extended through my work in the logistics sector. This resulted first specialized B2E systems. Today I work day-a day with exciting B2C, B2B- and B2E projects and reports in this blog about challenges and give insider tips.
