Magento – Prefix / Address in different Store Views / Languages / Languages adapt

Picture

Who uses different languages in different Store Views, will find, that can be set at the individual site, as the prefix (Mr., Mrs., Mr., Mrs.,…) should be. But if you go into the store with a view of the other language, can be seen how, that there is no possibility, To change the prefixes.

This must therefore be resorted to other means. Our solution here was “translate.csv”. Simply select the appropriate translation to the language file and the prefix of the site (Here “Mr.”, Mrs.” and “Ms.”) translate.

Since 2009 I have been working intensively with Magento. I started with the creation and operation of B2C stores. This was extended through my work in the logistics sector. This resulted first specialized B2E systems. Today I work day-a day with exciting B2C, B2B- and B2E projects and reports in this blog about challenges and give insider tips.

  1. Moin,
Thanks for the info & it works great too.

Little further question: the transaction is in the mail at the billing address prefix then reappears as an English version and not selected in the shop the German translation.

    Got a tip?
Thank you very much & ela eg

    1. Hi Ela,
could have several explanations. Therefore, first a few counter-questions:

      – Displayed only when the billing address of the English version, or even with the shipping address?
      – Used for standard doors, the German localization, and the German transaction templates?
      – Is the English and the English localization safely store and the English translation of assigned?
      – Are selected for the English, the English mail transaction templates?

Sorry for the many questions but against a remote maintenance is always a little harder 😉

  2. Hi Covos,

thank you for your quick response! 🙂 counter questions are always good & necessary!

    – “Ms.” or. “Mr.” available in both German mails the invoice- as well as the shipping address (in English. Mails also)
    – The prefix is selected, even after the shop has, So from that point where the billing address entered + was confirmed; But the pull was Mrs.; Mr. (So the translation, by works csv, somehow not only in the depths)
    – and, both English. Localization as well as English. Transactional mail

Helps somehow? Thanks for the support!! ela eg

    1. For me, it sounds like this, as if there is a translation has been assigned. The translation was inserted securely into the translate.csv, what frontend folder app / design / /[base or default]/[IhrTemplate]/locale / en_US liegt (with us is only set up the U.S. version, the GB version does not)?

So I would check the following:

      1. The default is set as the German and localization in the emails.
      2. By default, the prefixes “Mr., Mrs.” set up.
      3. The English Store View the English localization (U.S. works well from the beginning, no additional installation) assign
      4. into the above. translate.csv the translation “Mr.”,”Mr.” etc.. incorporate.
      5. The transaction updates for the English (US) Template and apply.

So it should work ansich….hope, that helps!

      1. Hallo Covos,

I have the same problem. I've done everything exactly and I am sure, that is used translate.csv, because it works in other places. In the Customer Information after logging in there is always the address, which was registered directly in the admin area and it is not translated.

        Regards,
        Bjorn

        1. Hi Björn,

ever tried, use the translation into the appropriate translation file in the core? Just to see, whether it would work so? Cache (Translations) best for this time off and recharge rather than once again too little. It comes every now and again before, that parts (only) translate the core can CSVen.

          1. Hallo Covos,

hey, you're fast! This does not work unfortunately. I have now but the solution, I per store (for me a country with multiple languages) always the address in the local language makes. If yes without locales in the configuration. That fits even.
            Nevertheless, many thanks!

            Beautiful evening, Bjorn

  3. Hi Bjorn,
    hallo Covos,
I currently have exactly the same problem to me the address translation.
I have two english store view once in German and once in.

In English, the translation will not be accepted. Location is set correctly. If I EN Store sign is in the Dashboard “Hello Herr xy” displayed, what actually is not and also in the mail templates.
in translate.csv is also the translation “Mr.”,”Mr” “Mrs.”,”Mrs.”.
And during the registration at the Select choice is Mr. and Mrs. translated….

Have you an idea, you can help me there?

    Thank you very much!
    Belal

    1. Hallo Belal,

the old problem 🙂 Unfortunately, I've found no consistent solution and only operated avoiding the problem. I once had a solution, so I thought- then the problem but turned up again in other places, that e.g.. Mail back errors in the transaction were.

Therefore, I have either waived the Title, use them only in monolingual environments (or on websites such as Björn / Stores) or if it is very crass: Mr., Mrs., Mr., Mrs.. side by side…

Unfortunately, I have no better option at the time. If a solution is found, I am pleased with a short description.

      Best Regards!

  4. Thanks for the quick response, I thought that I'm doing something wrong here.. 😀
Well I have built an extension which extends the salutation anyway. I will then expand again. If I find the time, I will evt it. Online for.
The problem looks very harmless, but unfortunately it is not .. well soon.
    Greetings!!

  5. Very useful the whole. Only I have the following phenomenon:

So far the ANREDE was not Pfichtfeld. That means I now have thousands of customers in the shop without salutation. Now I want the whole set as a mandatory field. The problem is then only, that the customer logs, goes into the ordering process and then aufpopt him the message: Title is a required field.

If the customer then in his account and is there a the ANREDE, comes with me tortzdem the popup with the message: Title is a required field.

    An idea for this? 🙂

    Thanks in advance 😉
