We asked ourselves again, what can be improved to Magento and have dealt with a problem, which annoys us for many years and all Magento versions: The credit notes. Here Magento offers under the reimbursable Subtotal three fields, may be registered in the amounts: reimburse shipping costs (clearly and unambiguously), correction refund (???), correction surcharge (???).
Probably everyone here, the credits (or. Adjustment documents) created ever confused and has been associated with high probability before the latter two fields confusion, which led to a false credit. Embarrassing against annoying the customer and, because it can not be undone.
Magento has half the problem solved, after all, by the button “update quantities” has installed below the order positions. Thus, the user can update the credit amount after the amount of reimbursable items was changed.
It would have been easy, this button directly below next to the “refund”-accommodate button and update the whole sum. but he was not.
We wanted to improve and thus help all, who come here confused. We have a small extension for Magento (>=1.7 & < 2) written, which adds another button, indicative of the total amount to be refunded before the creation of the credit. Thus, there is no risk of accidental incorrect entry of amounts more.
The extension there in our shop (HERE) and currently also free.
